My Rainbow six siege makes me choose a game pass plan whenever I load up the game and I cant even play because whenever I start matchmaking it immediately cancels it. I try to invite my friend but it just cancels the loading icon just like when I matchmake nothing works. Please help me

Gold was replaced with Game Pass Core. Game Pass Core (at the least) is still required to play online multiplayer. The only exception are free-to-play games. Which is why you can play Fortnite without a subscription, but Rainbow 6 does require a subscription to play online

With the exemption of free-to-play games like Fortnite, Warzone, Apex Legends, etc, all console games, purchased or not, require an active subscription to either Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (includes Game Pass Core) to play online on the Xbox Network. This also applies to physical copies of games.

If you don't have an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, this would be the reason why you are being prompted to choose a subscription plan when trying to play Rainbow Six Siege.

To clarify:

• Offline/story/campaign modes can be accessed without a subscription, it's just online features that require one.

• Game Pass Core is what Xbox Live Gold used to be, it's just that It was renamed and restructured to offer additional services in addition to online gaming.
