Why does the microsoft store force you to use the xbox app with certain games.

But if these are all part of the pc game library the platform is just pc right?

I would be fine just using the xbox app but the download speed is just a joke. my internet speed is much faster than 7mbps. I've tried delivery optimisation and repairing the app... nothing works to improve the DL speed on the xbox app.

Again if I can just resume the download using the microsoft store this would also be a great option but it doesn't for some games.

Sea of Thieves on the microsoft store only has install on the xbox app option but it appears in the downloads on the microsoft store and from there I can pause the download in the app and then resume it in the store. But with Total War: Warhammer III, it doesn't even show up in downloads, it's on the store and gives the same message to install on the app but then I can't see it on my library in the store (even though it's listed on the store xD)

Well typically you want to use the Xbox app rather than the ms store

For one compatibility

You can buy the pc copy or the console copy on the ms store hence why certain games like console only or multiplatform games need to be purchased in the correct store

So that you don't buy the wrong copy

And games.require the Xbox launcher or play anywhere titles which don't matter which platform

Also ms store supports buying physical items like disks consoles etc

I think you maybe confusing your Megabits (Mb/s) with your Megabytes (MB/s). I'm not sure if the Windows Store shows downloads in Mb/s or MB/s but the Xbox Windows App shows downloads in MB/s. Therefore a download speed of 100 Mb/s would be around 12 MB/s second at full speed.

I have a 330Mb/s download from my ISP. When converted to MB/s it would work out to about 41 MB/s. Which is what I got here. Perfectly normal.





Therefore the Windows store is not downloading faster than the Xbox app. The Xbox app is displaying Megabytes per second rather than Megabits.

Yeah, it also says "Shop for apps, games and more in Microsoft Store" as well as
"Works with Microsoft Store online, Windows 10, XBox One and XBox 360". So am I to understand that a Microsoft gift card, obtained USING Microsoft points, to be used ON the Microsoft Store, is limited? Well, that's funny, because there was
NO disclaimer on the DLC purchase page on the online store that said so, or I wouldn't have wasted my points.

So yeah, maybe you can't use it for certain things, but why not put that on the item page itself to clarify "you can't use it on THIS"? It is misleading to state
"certain in-app subscriptions or purchases",
but not saying which ones.
