Why does the mic audio only work when the Xbox game bar is actively open?

Microphone audio only works when the Xbox Game Bar is actively open because the Game Bar controls access to the microphone. When the Game Bar is closed, the microphone is automatically muted.

[/quote]If the cable imput is only for audio then there would be absolutely no way for the mic to work on the headset to begin with. But it does because it's power is coming from through the headset from the battery pack, which
is why this still makes no sense to me at all. That said, there's no reason that the headset should work but not the mic, except maybe the protocols.

[/quote]In simple terms for you evil.. Warhead chat audio will not work with xbox one. Game audio will. plain and simple.

First, go to the audio device settings

Next, plug in your mic or headset. You should see a little audio bar that moves up and down with your voice. If you can’t find this, or the audio bar seems to be frozen, your mic doesn’t work, and you unfortunately have to get a new
one.

If it does work, awesome! Adjust the pick up sensitivity of the mic to high or very high. It should be more sensitive now.

Now try loading into Fortnite. If this still doesn’t work, even when creating a private party (by the way make sure in the party you aren’t muted and the little mic icon is broadcasting little waves as you speak, otherwise, your headphones
are broken)I would try apps like discord to talk with your friends.

It's like it used to record from the mic and from the audio sent to the headset and audio sent to the speakers but now its the mic and only the audio output selected in the sound setting in the system tray on the windows task bar.

I am having the same issue, this used to work but now I cannot use push to talk in Sea of Thieves unless I toggle the game bar open when in an Xbox Party audio chat.

I also cannot set mouse buttons as push to talk hotkeys in the Xbox Game Bar settings, only keyboard keys.
