why does my xbox keep going to one guide when I turn it on?

You should be able to solve this by tweaking a few settings

Now, It's a few years since I have seen the old dashboard (I am on Series X now) but as far as I best recall, you should go to SETTINGS>TV AND ONE GUIDE>DEVICES (I may have the specific names slightly off) and make sure there is no cable or satellite provider listed in there for any reason if you no longer use one.

Also, whilst you are in the SETTINGS menus, go into your power settings options and make sure the console is not set to default to the TV input when powered up. It might say something like "When turned on, go to TV". Make sure that is unchecked or disabled.

You can turn this automatic feature off in Settings > Power options > Customise power options, then deselect the ‘On start, go to TV’ option.

why does my xbox one keep turning off

I'm not worried about my cable box, I just need it to pass through. I'm going to assume the One using the same technology my TV uses to get the guide. My uverse box requires an IR blaster to work, but the TV has the programming guide. I never use the cable
box's guide, only Samsung's. Kinect being an KR blaster will basically have me running the same set up. But, my concern is, I would like my TV to turn on when the One does, which would in turn turn on my receiver. Currently, I only turn on my TV, uverse is
always on..even when off.

Have you tried to reset your console?

Please, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Select Reset and keep my games & apps.
