Why does my old gamertag keep switching back and forth with my new one?

• First, when did you change your gamertag and how did you do it? Did you use the Xbox app, the console settings, or the website?
  
• Second, have you checked your Microsoft account settings to see if your gamertag is updated there?
  
• Third, are you using any other devices or platforms that might be syncing with your Xbox account, such as Windows 10 PC or mobile phone?
  

Meanwhile. you can try the following steps to troubleshoot:



- Sign out of your Xbox account on all devices, including your console, PC, phone, or tablet.

- Clear the cache on your console by holding the power button for 10 seconds until it shuts down, then unplugging it for 30 seconds.

- Restart your console and sign in with your new gamertag.

- Check if your gamertag is updated on other devices and online services, such as the Xbox app or Xbox.com

and on the console your motto, bio, location, and name doesn't update at all if you change it. like if you look at your account with another profile it will keep switching back and forth between your old and new one.

Haven't played the MP yet. My brother and I have been playing co-op campaign like crazy. I think its taking twice as long cause we keep switching back and forth between the old look and the new.

Yes, the old xbox works just fine with the same network. We've switched back and forth between xboxes and the old one will connect but the new one has the MTU error between the network and the internet stage.
