Why does my new and fresh copy of Fallout 4 game of the year version does not work?

I recently purchased a copy of the Fallout 4 GOTY version and the code inside the product does not work. I bought it off of eBay and when i received the package. it was fully sealed and it didn't look like it was messed around with. Can someone please explain why this is currently happening?

I am just gonna buy the game from the Microsoft store. it's probably much better than having to try to go through the refund thing. I will watch out next time.

This can be a bit dumb, but are you sure that the seal is the original and not a re-packaging?

I also checked if the eBay user was a trusted seller before making the purchase (well i believe)

It kept saying that the letters were invalid such as AEIOU.

Yes, usually the game on the Store is available when it's on sale for about $15 or similar.

If possible please return the game using Ebay customer support
