Why does my left joystick move my camera instead of moving the game?

There could be a few reasons why the left thumbstick on your Xbox controller is not controlling movement in your game. Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue:

1. Check the game's control settings.

2. Check the controller's settings.

3. Check for controller updates.

4. Check for in-game controller issues.

If it still doesn't work, try doing a hard reset by following the steps below.

1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Important Be sure to wait at least 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

3. Plug the console power cable back in.

4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.

If none of these steps fix the issue, it's possible that there is a problem with the controller itself. In this case, you may need to consider sending in your device to have it repaired/replaced.

Although if i must make the argument, the reason you would want to is because you're moving the camera. If you want you see to the left you move the camera around the subject to the right and so forth. If the subject for which you act as puppeteer in a game
had a joystick protruding from their occipital lobe, it would be operated thusly, like a camera on a tripod

Contrarily, I also personally can't imagine why anyone would want to do it the other way, which "most people" find intuitive.

same joystick here but works fine in FS 2020. Have you got the latest drivers from the Saitek website? I´m using the 64bit driver. Having troubles with other games though. ArmA 3 won´t start if the joystick is plugged in.

I cannot map the view axis to the joysticks coolie hat though. I can map the fixed view "look left" or "look right" but the camera is not moving seemlessly to the left or right like it did with FSX.

This game has the most clunky cover system I can think of. I also don't like the fact that I can't move the camera while I'm running. WHY LOCK THE CAMERA FOR!? It seems silly that I have to stop running, turning my character, then run again, and then turn
the camera again and then run some more. Why not just run and move the camera so your character would just run into the desired direction.

Okay, I tested it. If I barely move the joystick, it won't do anything, but it's such a miniscule dead-zone, it's not really worth mentioning; no game would ever need to be that sensitive. The only reason it's there in the 1st place is because the bottom
plastic edge of the joysticks have to move down (as you push the joystick up, down, left, or right) to touch the sensor inside of the controller to activate the signal so that it knows you're moving the joystick - that's all; that would be true for ANY controller.
