Why does my installing games and apps say installing but doesn't move/ download

Based on the description, you are installing games and apps but no progress or stuck up at zero. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

It is possible that the issue is caused by problem with your network when downloading a game or app in your Xbox console. Here are the troubleshooting steps that we can perform:

1. Check the download speed.

• Scroll to Installing… <the game title you're downloading>.
  
• Go to My games & apps > Manage > Queue and note the download speed shown on the game or app that’s being installed. This indicates the current download speed. If you're seeing slow speeds (for example, less than 1 megabit per second), it may take a long time for the download to complete.
  

2. Close or suspend any running games. To provide the best gaming experience, background downloads are constrained while a game is running. To remove download constraints from games or apps being installed, you can either wait for the console to suspend the running game, or you can tell the console to suspend the game during the download. To suspend a game:

• Go to My games & apps > Manage > Queue.
  
• Select Suspend my game (this option is only available when a game is running while another game or app is being installed).
  

You can also force games to close by doing the following:

• On the Home screen, navigate to your most recently run game.
  
• With the game highlighted, press the Menu button and select Quit.
  

3. Restart our console.

• Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your controller to open the Power Center.
  
• Select Restart console.
  
• Select Restart. This will automatically pause any existing downloads, which will resume once the console is restarted.
  

When you restart your console, all open apps and games will be closed, so once your console has restarted, verify that your downloads have resumed by doing the following:

1. On the Home screen, open My games & apps > See all > Manage.
   
2. Select Queue and highlight the game or app you're trying to download.
   
3. The game or app should show as Installing.
   
4. If the status shows as Queued or Paused, select the game or app, press the Menu button , and then select Resume installation.
   

4. Check your console's network connection.

If the previous solutions didn't resolve the problem, see what your console’s download speed is in comparison with your subscription plan from your internet service provider (ISP). First, pause any running or queued downloads:

• On the Home screen, open My games & apps > See all > Manage.
  
• Select Queue and highlight any games or apps that are downloading or are queued to download.
  
• Press the Menu button on your controller, and then select Pause installation for each game or app that's downloading or queued.
  

Next, close any games that are running on your system:

1. On the Home screen, navigate to your most recently run game.
   
2. With the game highlighted, press the Menu button and select Quit.
   

Now, run a network speed test:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
   
2. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
   
3. Select Test network connection.

Ive discovered that i can download apps and not games i dont know why but games wont download and just say installation stop but apps download

I've got the same problem, and it's driving me nuts.

Every time I try to cancel the 0% download on the install manager, it simply disappears until I go back to the game's page where it immediately reappears, because canceling the download does absolutely nothing. Neither does resetting the Xbox or Microsoft Store apps. Neither does reinstalling them.

For some reason, it's just always queueing my download no matter what... to a tiny boot drive that doesn't even have the space to install it. So it's perpetually stuck on an error message saying it doesn't have the room to install, while not letting me cancel or change paths.

After trying all of those steps, it still doesn't install the Xbox App. It's still saying Retry after it almost finishes installing. It's only the Xbox app this is happening to. Every other app downloads and installs fine.
