Why does my game keep freezing or keep getting big lag spikes

Thanks for the update, may I know if you have those games installed on a external hard drive?

If that's the case, could you try moving the games to your internal hard drive, disconnect the external drive, restart your console and give it a new try.

I am playing on the Xbox one X, Apex is the only game where I completely freeze in place, I can move the camera but everything else is frozen and I would have to close the game completely. In other games like overwatch I just get a weird lag spike where it rubber bands me back to the same spot for 5 seconds.

I’ve already tried restarting by holding the power button for 10 seconds, I’ve already tried restarting my Wi-Fi as well.

No problem, may I know if you tried a factory reset for your console but keeping games and apps?

Go to Settings > System > Console info > reset and then select keep my games and apps

(or if you don't mind, perform a full reset, deleting everything. Don't worry, your purchased and content is linked to your account. And all the progress for the games are stored in the cloud)

If you already tried that (or both) the next step will be perform an offline update for your console. In that way Xbox system will be installed/updated from scratch.
