    I own a series x console. Whenever i stop playing, i will always off the power supply for the console after i see the fan has stopped spinning. The fan will usually stop spinning after a couple of minutes after i switch off my console and then i will switch off the power supply for the console. But recently, the fan is still spinning even after waiting an hour and sometimes it will keep spinning until the next day.

    I am now afraid that my console is having some problems as the fan does not stop spinning after a couple of minutes. Also i am scared that by i switching off the power supply for my console even if the fan is still spinning will cause some issues with the console.

    I did some research on this matter, but i cannot find an answer to the questions stated.

    Is your xbox power saving turned on? because when it shuts down it still sleeps updating games and system.

    Xbox Series X - even with the console fully shut down, if I place my ear at the top I can hear a buzz like there’s a current. No fan spinning etc.

    Xbox Series S Fan isn't humming like normal.

    So usually when I play on my series s the fan makes a loudish noise....
    The Series S, just like the Series X is designed to be quite, in normal gaming (even when play X|S optimised games) the Series S fan should not be audible. It should be pretty much silent.

    Have you changed the location of where your console is located? These consoles get warm (hot even), this is normal. So their location is actually more important than hearing the fan spinning.

    As long as your console is in a well ventilated area you will not hear the internal fan spin. The Series S is designed to be an extremely quite console, playing games or not.

    Three months ago I bought new Series X from my local store. After two months I’ve noticed that while i’m playing Forza Horizon 5 (doing liveries in garage) my Series X fan was spinning louder than usual. And when I get my hands on Dying Light 2 I started playing in quality mode. But after a while (it’s random - sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes after an hour) my Series X fan starts spinning like crazy for a few seconds (my console even restarted today). I don’t have such problems in resolution or performance mode only in quality mode. My question is - is my series x have problems with overheating? Should I send it back to Microsoft? Or it’s maybe bad optimization of DL2? Also I don’t have such problems while playing Witcher 3 at 4k resolution or even Metro Exodus. My console is in well ventilated place, on top of my desk.
