    Why does my DirectTv remote and setup no longer work fully after I have installed my Xbox One?


    I just setup my xbox ONE and I routed my directtv reciever to the xbox one like instruted. I followed all of the setup instructions to make the Live TV work. Now I am unable to use my directtv remote and the xbox one doesnt have all of the options. With
    the directtv connected to the xbox I am no longer able to see my recorded shows, guide...the only thing that works is the actual live TV. Super frustrated!

    XBox One Requires IR to Control DirectTV but I need RF to work (lost cause?)...

    I just got an Xbox One and it seems that
    requires IR (line of sight) to control my DirectTV box. For reasons too long to explain, I
    MUST HAVE my DirectTV be configured to use
    RF (shoots through walls). I believe most "remote extenders" actually convert
    IR->RF->IR (the last step converting
    back to IR).

    This last "step" in the remote extender process would require that my DirectTV box be configured to
    IR (which I can't do).

    I really just want IR->RF so the Xbox IR will be converted to RF (but
    NOT back to IR).

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Do we still need our Cable remote ?

    So I can still record programs and view recordings (access a DirectTV DVR) through the Xbox One? I have yet to see anything about this. And sorry for sounding like a noob but how does a cable providers remote work exactly with the Xbox One?

    Make sure you've followed all of these steps:

    However, I have my Xbox setup properly and I still can't get remote installs to work either, so there may be a bug.

    After installing the February update, I no longer have this problem. The IR remote now works in both Netflix and YouTube apps.

    Your PS4 may allow you to play a game after 30 seconds, but that doesn't mean its actually fully installed, its running the game while its still installing.

    Also I've had no problems with install times, Forza 5 took maybe two too three minutes and then I could play, roughly the same for Dead Rising 3.

    Finally this is nothing new, PC games take FOREVER too fully install, StarCraft 2 takes up too an hour to fully install (though it does allow you to play after 30 minutes or so)

    I am having the same issue. To fully integrate One Guide with my TV service I need to be able to control the cable box/PVR through the xbox. But in the setup, the model number, VIP5662W, does not come up. Any work arounds?
