why does my controller suddenly not work while plugged in on my pc?

im playing on a pc and using a cable for my controller and it was working fine and the the other day it just stopped working. ive even gone through every cable i have , and its something lik60 or 70 cables and it will work for about 10 seconds and go off every time and every cable. so do i need an update? and how do i do it from pc? also why does a controller without bluetooth have a sync button?

What controller are you using? Have you double checked that the cables you're using are data cable and not charging cables? It's a common mistake as these cables look the same, but a charging cable does not have the ability to transmit data required for controller functionality. You can check a cable's packaging or product listing to see if it's a data cable or not.

If you're using an older Xbox controller, such as the original Xbox One controller, they do not have Bluetooth but Xbox Wireless, which is used for wireless connectivity between the controller and an Xbox console or a Wireless adapter for Windows PCs.

In the Sound Settings window, click “Manage sound devices” and see whether your “headset” or “headphones” are under the “Disabled” list. If they are, click them and click “Enable.”

To set your headphones as your default audio device, switching them to automatically connect as soon as they’re plugged in, go back to the Sound Settings menu.

Here, click the “Choose your output device” drop-down and select your headphones from the list.

If that doesn't work, you may want to reinstall or update your sound drivers.

most pc's have seperate outputs for headphone and mic, you would need a splitter to plug into the back of the pc, or you could just get yourself a usb headset with virtual 7.1 for quite cheap and have much better audio.

But the controller only does this when i plug it to my laptop . If i plug it to my pc it works good

I don't think you understand what the problem is. Batteries aren't the issue. My controller works fine with my batteries. The issue is, as soon as I plug a USB cable and connect it with the console, the battery level suddenly changes to critical. That's
why I'm not able to update my controller WITH the controller plugged into the console. I have no battery issues whatsoever in normal gameplay.
