Why does my console refuse to connect to the internet ALL THE TIME?

And why should people who still live in the dark ages by refusing to get an internet connection hold every else back?

If always online means better games then i'm all for it.

I use a wired connection, but if I hit Network Settings and then Wired Connection, it acts as if the cable does not exist at all. It's not an issue of it refusing to read my internet connection, but rather not recognizing the ethernet cable.

I also have tried using different ethernet cables and different ports, and neither solution worked.

I tried going off-line, however my XBOX one refuses to install Forza Horizion 2 unless the console is connected to the internet.

Does the console connect to the internet at all?
