Why does my avatar show random avatars instead of the one I've created?

I've had this issue for a while now, but the avatar that I've created doesn't show whenever I select the "Show Avatar" checkbox from my profile, some random avatar shows.

I switched from the older avatar to the new avatar around when it was first introduced. I believe I got my Xbox Series X a little over a year ago. I don't think I had this problem on my Xbox One.

Whenever I go into the avatar editor, the avatar I created is there, but after making a change and saving and exiting the editor, the avatar showing is just some random character; like different race, gender, clothes, etc. I've tried logging out and back in multiple times. Resetting and unplugging the console multiple times. Removing my profile from the Xbox and re-adding it (which I think caused me to lose my Skyrim and Fallout mods IIRC). I've also tried just keeping the "Show Avatar" box unchecked for some time (days, weeks, months), and then re-checking it to see if it just needed some time to update. However, when I check the box to show avatar, it just shows some different random avatar.

Is there any way for me to get the avatar that I created to be displayed?

I was able to create a new profile.

After going through the process of making a new avatar (face, hair, clothes, props, etc.), then saving, when I go back to the profile the avatar is there with the changes I made to the height, body, skintone, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and hair, but nothing else.

The clothes showing are what the default avatar I selectedwas wearing. The accessories (glasses, earrings, jewelry) and props that I selected aren't there.

Once again, when I go back to the editor, all of the changes I made show there. I've tried changing some things and saving again, but the changes aren't shown.

So, while it is better than on my original profile, because the avatar at least looks like what I put in the editor, none of the other changes are reflected.

Ok, I don't suppose there's another way to create a profile other than adding a new email and everything, is there?

That sounds like what I did before, and while it did retain my saved games, it messed up a couple games in particular by deleting theirreserved space which holds information. These are games I'm playing right now.

I think I'll need to hold off on factory resetting the console again until I'm through with the games, then I'll give that a try again.

That is correct, by creating a new Xbox profile, you need to create a new Microsoft account.

However, if you can borrow an Xbox profile from a friend or a family member in order to check for the Xbox avatar editor if it would work, that would be great.

That is odd indeed, kindly try to create and save an Xbox avatar using a different Xbox profile for us to further isolate the case.

To create a new avatar:

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

Select My games & apps > See all.

Go to Apps and select the Xbox Avatar Editor app.

Select an avatar, and then customize it however you like.

Then restart your console and check if the Xbox avatar is saved on your other Xbox profile.

Please take your time and let me know if it works.
