    Why does Microsoft reject my phone number?


    Why is my account locked for no apparent reason despite logging into it regularly?

    Why doesn't Microsoft accept any email or phone number I provide to them as a two-step security measure?

    Why do I get a single BS error about how "you can't send a verification SMS to this number"?

    Why do I have to call my friend and ask to use their phone to verify, because for no **** reason their phone can receive a code?

    Why is this service **** developed by oblivious people in Bangladesh who have never seen a paved road in their entire life?

    What region or type of number are you using

    If you aren't using a void ita best to use a mobile.number

    If you aren't in an xbox live region it won't work

    As per your description, your account was locked without valid reason. May we ask for a screenshot when you sign into Microsoft account on (https://account.microsoft.com/ )? Kindly use this as guide, How to include a screenshot in your post.

    Any Microsoft account accessed at least once in a two-year period is an active account (see this support article to know more details, Microsoft account activity policy).

    May we ask for an error message you encounter upon securing your account using two-step verification?

    Based on your error message, "you can't send a verification SMS to this number." May we know if you have added a mobile number or landline phone number into your account?

    Did you set up your account with the help of your friend or using the contact information of your friend? If you were referring to phone number, sending/receiving code should match the phone number/email account added to the Microsoft account.

    Impossible security measures!

    Athough that may have helped while we were trying to validate, my email and phone number have already been validated, my boyfriends email and phone number are being rejected, and neither can be entered again. From what I understand, his account is totally
    unusable unless we get a third phone number or make another email address, as It won't accept what we already registered as good enough.

    I'm sorry you're experiencing this problem. I understand how important recovering your account is to you. Unfortunately, the system is completely automated, you must use the options that have been given.

    Did you have two-factor authentication (2FA) active on the account? If you do have the 2FA active, are you able to access the second factor of authentication? If so, please try resetting your password.     Important: The account recovery form can only be used if two-step verification isn't turned on.

    If you did not have 2FA active on the account, and the account was not deleted due to inactivity, you will need to try the Account Recovery Form: https://account.live.com/acsr

    The system works on probability. Please keep trying. Consistent attempts will lead to recovery.

    Microsoft takes account security very seriously, that's why Account Recovery is an automated process with no human influence. If you don't have the correct information, you may not be able to get through account verification using the Recovery Form.

    The Account Recovery Form requires adequate information to prove that you are the owner of the account. The Account Recovery Process can be a time consuming process, but providing as much info as possible from the start of the process will increase the possibility of being verified by the automated process. You'll need to keep trying until you're verified by Microsoft.

    Remember to use a familiar device from which you've frequently accessed your Microsoft account, as well as a familiar location. Microsoft will review your responses and respond within 24 hours. If you are verified, instructions on how to log back into your account will be sent to you, and if you are not verified, you will need to submit the Account Recovery form again.
