Why does a 360 account name show up on xbox one when you can't play half the games with them?

Hello! I was wondering Why a 360 account shows up on my xbox when im on the Xbox one. The account has the name i want (Puck) and it looks like the account hasn't played in years.

Gamertags are not only used for Xbox console but throughout Microsoft for many services, both internal and external. Even though a tag may look like it's not in use, it may very well be for another service.

 

Just checked & that name is taken.

If the person who has that gamertag doesn't log in for 5 years then it will be made available.

 

i understand the five year policy but the person clearly not active. I checked a website (https://xboxgamertag.com/search/puck/) to see when he was last online and that was 2 years ago. I get that its not
policy but i have been waiting for this gt for 5-6 years and he hasn't even switched over to an xbox one .

 

Doesnt matter people can use it for other things not just Xbox you are just going to have to wait

Gamertags are not an on-demand service

 

As ngocphi said,gamertags are not an on demand service.

This person could still be using their gamertag on another service that isn't xbox live.

You will just have to keep checking to see if it gets released,it will not be made available unless this person either changes their tag or it doesn't log in for 5 years,there are no exceptions.
