Why do you camp?

A lot of people say that in Ghosts your forced to camp because you die to quickly and the maps are to big! If that's the reason then why do you camp in the older CODs? - Laziness? - You suck so bad you need to sit in a corner? I want to know why people
camp in the older CODs when you don't die so quickly and the maps are smaller?

Yeah, there is... Free games, Beta Access, Free DLC, Free Theme, etc dished out with PS+ .

XBL Gold just gives discounts on stuff and the ability to play online/party chat.



Out of the 2 I'd say PS+ is the better value by far, but I don't begrudge paying for XBL, so I'm not complaining... it's just the way it is...

Uhm, I'm not much of a camper, but I can assume people do it because in war, you're not going to run around like a headless chicken.

 

CoD rewards camping, simple answer. I mean not many people can rush around, capping flags, flipping spawns, and not get shot in the back or lose a gunfight here or there which losses those high killstreaks. Some can do it, but not many at all. Camp it out
for the killstreaks, thats CoD.

Why do people always accuse another of camping? I would wager to bet that 90 percent of the people who are accused of camping, and called an F-ing camper in the death message, were not camping at all. So many times I have been called a camper because when
I shot the other guy he was sprinting, and I had stopped after hearing him and took my time to aim down sights at the doorway he was coming from. That doesn't mean I camped, but merely that I took a better strategy and used my sights vs aim assist hip fire/
pull the left trigger as I see the person.

I play a ton of HC S&R and I never camp. I defend a bomb site, or plant and then defend, but that is considered camping too I guess. Who in the world made it law that you must be moving at all times or you are camping?

People are inclined to play however they so choose. They bought the game, they can decide. Yes you can get killed very quickly, but you can also kill others quickly too, so run or snipe, or hide in a corner if you like. But I don't think it is more prevalent
on this one vs other CODs.

 

Campers are the bane of all true CoD players. Sniping from a concealed perch is on thing but when a person knowing is camping with an assault rifle or other weapon focusing on one choke point and using the map as an added assist it reasons to say that all
campers have no true skill. When you run and gun you are forced to watch 360 degrees and makes the game an even playing field. You cant hang with the big dogs and actually play the game with the intended way then you should play HC S&R or another mode in which
camping is essential. There is also the guys running around using shotguns and aim assist. Things like that are not playing to play its playing to decimate and a lot of people end up on the wrong end of someone exploiting the aim assist. Id rather have it
not as an option at all. For those who despise campers I suggest you use my method. RPG them to kingdom come. Use it only for that purpose and campers will soon disappear. I am not against someone wanting an extra edge but not at the expense of others.

 

Define camping?

Sitting in a corner with whatever weapon you choose I suppose is camping. However some people do it for weapon challenges in operations for "Point blank Kills" as an example.

@Quiglz - Running & gunning works for people who have very good response times and awareness. All these traits tend to go down hill quite a bit as we get older - cough cough like me - I tend to play tactical and methodical. Running and gunning for me means
letting the other team gain mass points.I guess the only time I tend to stay in one place is when I am sniping. I simply cannot get the hang of quick scoping.

In the end - you pay 59.95 for a game - you play it any way you want. With one eye shut - one hand on your controller - if you like to sit in a corner and wait for something to run by - they that also is fair play - not much fun I realize but it is your
choice.

 

if someone spends the whole match just sat in one place then yeah there a camper but if like me they move from place to place runnning and gunning along the way i would'nt call that camping

 

I never camp. A run and gunner for life and until this game hit and mw3, I averaged 1.75 kd spread or more in cod games mostly on Treyarch made cods, mw2 and mw. I suck in ghosts because it is made for camping! The maps aren't too terribly big but you
have a lot of areas where you shouldn't run out in the open because of thermal scopes and such. Ghosts, blops 2 and mw3 made it hard on run and gunners and as a result everyone is forced to camp who cares about stats. I care less and even though I still
run and gun, I have managed to still maintain a 1.57 kd spread in ghosts. But the game sucks, its not the cod I used to know and enjoy playing and the series has become more of a pain to play than being able to enjoy it. I feel like I should be paid to play
this game because it feels like working.

 

I find it entertaining that you think HC Search is for campers. The majority of the groups I play against and with that do well, are running and gunning. You counter the issues of the campers with smart perks like Incog for no thermal and dead silence so
the sound w-hore corner campers don't hear you coming.

I personally run an IA marksman with thermal to pick off the map edge campers when they are there, and I like the semi auto action to a rifle. Just because you play HC search doesn't mean you camp. Quite the contrary. I run around as much or more in that
mode than I do in Dom, where I try for cap points and higher kill streaks once we have the points.

Anyway, like axemator said, you paid the money for the game, you should play it the way you like.

 

I'm not talk objective based modes. I'm talking like TDM and KC. I always see campers sitting in a corner with a shot gun or a silenced gun just aiming down his sights waiting for them to come around that corner. Just last night on MW2 a guy went 6 n 14
2 games just by sitting in a corner with a shotgun. I messaged him saying it looks like camping isn't working for you, maybe you should try running around. Its pointless tho. Isn't camping is what's killing COD? I don't enjoy play COD like I used to just because
of all the campers.

 

umm, in war you cant acquire a target with a high power scope that fast the whole sniper rifle thing is out of control

 

The gaming style has really switch to a Rainbow Six style of play. Reach the half way point as fast as you can without crossing so you can contain the area. You cross the line and enemies spawn behind you. Wait around the line and kill enemies as they
come to cross it.

 

Usually it starts when I start to get drunk and the reaction time drops off. Other times it is because I'm playing with a near full group and someone has to hold a map power position. I.e. On the map Warhawk if you control the middle of the map from one
of the high positions the runners can clean up the enemy. Some may consider it camping, but unlike sitting in a corner waiting for someone to walk by, it is integral to the W.
