why do the controllers not last more then a couple of months if your lucky!

I I currently have a shadow controller I just bought literally 2 months ago not even a full two months and it connects I play games I got full batteries I swap them out and my controller stays on but it will not respond I can turn it on and I'll move literally
to like three clicks to the right down or left and it will not work it just stops the light stays on I take the batteries out I put new ones in it does the exact same thing I plug it in with the cord and it's still just stops working buttons won't respond
it says the Xbox tells me to plug in a controller when clearly there's a controller plugged in and the light is still on I bought this controller for 70 bucks because I've gone through literally 8 controllers already 3 Halo controllers to Gears of War controllers
my original controller plus a couple random original controllers through the GameStop program before I bought this one which was 70 bucks I figured why not it'll last me longer I keep having problems these controllers have stick drift or the one controller
I have that works right now the left trigger does not want to come back out all the way so it stays pressed a little bit that's very annoying so is the stick drift so is this problem I'm currently having with controller I'm having right now to where it stays
on but it does not work when you push any button I'm still in my warranty stage where I should be able to be refunded or replaced a controller but the process of going through all your different ways of dealing with these problems makes it so tedious and long
that by the time I finally even figure it out my warranty will probably be void Microsoft I'm not happy I do not like Sony and I've loved you all ever since the very first Xbox I have been on board I have put Nintendo as number 2 but with this controller problem
issue that I am having I seriously don't know if I will buy another Xbox One X looks amazing but if I can't play it why do I want it

Will you drop your gold membership for a refund?

@electro, you finish that campaign in a matter of a couple days. Why not finish it then drop your gold. If it takes you a month to finish then do that. Then refund the gold...

 

Controllers break!!!

I have purchased more XBOX One controllers since using the Xbox One. It is SO frustrating. They are $60 per, but break in like months! We are NOT hard on the controllers at all. For comparison, I'm still using my original controllers for the Xbox 360
whenever I play an old game. They lasted the ENTIRE life of the 360 and then some! I have two controllers where the stick is busted so the view in-game either goes to the sky or the ground (depending on your settings) and now two controllers with bumper
and/or trigger issues. Today, the left bumper button literally just fell off.

I expect more than this. I pay $60 per controller? Why not buy $20 knock offs? They'll break, too, but they'll probably last a couple months and I can get three for the price of one. Please help me here. I'd like replacements.

If you live in NZ, Australia, and I think the UK, Microsoft NZ, Microsoft Australia, and Microsoft UK (since Microsoft has offices worldwide) will give you a 12 month warranty when you buy a new controller, due to consumer rights legislation in these countries.
NZ and Australia have very good consumer rights legislation. As Australia puts it, they have "guarantees which cannot be excluded by any contract". Similar for NZ too.
