    Why do I not have the option to change my Hertz allowed in my Xbox setting?


    I currently just got the Xbox Series X and was wanting to run 120 FPS, but I noticed there is not an option to change it in my Xbox settings. I have the "Acer Nitro 34" Class UWQHD Curved Gaming Monitor". When I check the details on my Xbox it says, "Your TV setup doesn't support 4K UHD at 120hz" and "Your TV setup doesn't support 120hz. Games won't display at 120 fps.". I know my monitor supports 120hz because it is a 165hz monitor. I am wondering how I am able to get 120 fps while playing games on my console. I tried restarting and going through all settings on my console. Do I need to get a stronger HDMI cord? Or does it simply just not work?

    No there is not

    Again, DisplayPort relies on using computing power in a PC to supplement the onboard hardware

    The electronics and software in a display are what determines abilities. .

    Could you provide the full model of your monitor?
    Trying to find the one you have by searching “Acer nitro 34 uwqhd” doesn't show me a specific result.

    This question is asked because PC monitors may allow you to use higher frequencies only through the Display Port.

    Additionally, 4K @ 120Hz requires having a 2.1 HDMI port on your monitor, and usually PC monitors have 2.0 or 1.4 HDMI ports.

    “4K gaming at 120 frames per second is available if you have all of the following:
    An Xbox Series X console
    An Ultra High Speed HDMI cable that supports HDMI 2.1
    A TV that supports HDMI 2.1”

    “If your TV doesn’t support HDMI 2.1, you can still enable 120 Hz gaming at a lower resolution. To do this, set your Refresh rate on the TV & display options screen to 120 Hz. If your resolution was previously set to 4K, the console will automatically adjust the resolution to support the 120 Hz refresh rate. Otherwise, select a resolution from the available options.”

    1. that screen is not 4K, it is quad and therefore 1440.

    2. that screen supports 144hz but does not have 120hz listed as a specific refresh rate in the edid, the console needs edid to list 120hz exact.

    monitors are typically designed with non-standard timings and substandard electronics relying on the computer they're attached to to achieve the stated performance

    According to the manual it taps out at 100 Hz over HDMI

    I see that now in the manual. With the DP it maxes out to 165, and with the hdmi maxes at 100. Is there anyway to get an adapter so I would be able to use the DP from the monitor to plug into the Xbox series X?
