    Why do I need to purchase game pass for MWZ?


    MWIII has just released, and I have a problem. Why can I play WZ2 and DMZ for FREE, but not MWZ?! I already played the campaign when it was early release, so I can't really do much without an Xbox Live subscription.

    Free-to-play games can be played online for free. Other games require Game Pass Core (or Ultimate which includes Core) to play online.

    Game Pass is like Netflix for games. It gives you access to a library of games to play. If you purchase the games, you don't need Game Pass.

    If you're trying to play online, you do need a Gold subscription which can be purchased separately or as part of Game Pass Ultimate.

    You can only download Gears 5 from the Windows Store if you purchase the digital game. This is why the message appears.

    To download it for PC Game Pass you need to download the The Pass App.
