why do I have a new serial number after sending my XSX in for repair?

Hello TheDirty14s, usually when you send a console to microsoft warranty after you will receive a refurbished console, in case the accessory controls etc it replace sums up with a new one.

....my original said ,"XSX" , but the new one says " XSX - 1 Terabyte"

They do

When you print your shipping label

Don't include accessories and factory reset your console

This is also stated when you fill out the warranty request form and the email you received to.get the shipping label

Most likely they will do the reset anyways but generally you never send or sell devices with personal info even when you sell the device it's dangerous

Even most marketplaces tell you this

When you warranty any device you do get a refund back unless it's a minor repair issue then you get the same unit but most times manufacturers will just replace it

You will never get a brand new unit

You arent supposed to.leave.anything on your hdd

When you send it.in

...well that's my point. Microsoft should mention not to leave data on the HDD because we will most likely replace your console. I was under the impression that they were going to just fix it and send the same unit back. Should of asked about this before I sent it out. .\ /.
