    Why do games take hours to install on my Xbox One?


    I'm talking like 4-7 hours of installing a game with 1.5 TB of free space.

    Why do disk based games take hours to install?

    There is a lot of info. Install them while offline to see if they download faster.

    Click here to see how to download while not online. Also, the game will download updates before it actually starts installing. It just doesn't say that.

    Why do games take hours to install on my Xbox One?

    So are we talking directly from the disc?

    If so, either disconnect your console from the internet when installing or when the option comes up that the games needs an update as well, postpone the update until after the game is installed.

    If you choose the update the game while installing it really plays havoc with it and I have no idea why.

    Yes always postpone the update if installing from disk. I was loading shadow or Mordor last night and said yes to the update. It got stuck on 84%. Try to start the game and had to say yes to the update. SLOW! Took over 2.5 hours. I can not give exact time
    but I went to bed and let it load over night.

    I just tried installing Killer Instinct for free digital download on my Xbox One and the install stopped no option.

    Yikes that's crazy long. For me it doesn't take as long, I'd say for me it takes around an hour or so. But I may be estimating a bit on that.

    The read time/speed of the HDD is obviously terrible. If you had an external HDD with USB 3.0 and a better read speed, games would load and install much faster than on the internal HDD of the Xbox One. I can't wait for my external HDD to come in. I am going
    to move all the larger games to that.

    install the game offline first. the only reason an install takes hours is due to slow/cheap internet. ie : dodo
