    Why do coop games not work on PC game pass?


    I have fully updated my win10 system. I have installed all the latest drivers. I have followed every official and unofficial trouble shooting guide out there, multiple time. I have disable literally anything and everything that can inhibit my games. I have uninstalled and reinstalled MS store, DX12, Xbox for PC, and my games multiple times. I have checked to ensure my rig is good enough to play and made sure no hardware is malfunctioning. Yet, all I can play are simple single player games like Jurassic World 2. The second I try to play a coop game with my buddies (the ones who talked me into Xbox on PC in the first place), the games begin to load with their splash screens but cut out when the actual game screen should appear. This does not happen on Steam or Epic, even with new games run with graphics set on high (such as Dark Tide).

    If it help with diagnostics, I've watched my CPU and GPU stats during startup and it's like the Xbox app and games aren't even trying to use my hardware. It's literally like Xbox is just showing a splash screen graphic then giving up the second the game is supposed to actually run.

    Can anyone give a guess as to why I can't play even old coop games (like Dead Army 4) on my system? I ask this as I have now fought with this problem for two weekends straight. I've done about 10-15 hours of hands on work and am not one inch closer to success.

    Geri M. Thanks for replying.

    To be brief, I've done all of that and more. I am pretty sure I have an active Ultimate membership, as I can use cloud gaming. I'm pretty sure I meet all the requirements and I can play games with greater hardware demands. I am able to play cloud games and single player games, like Jurassic World 2, without issue. I have all the latest drivers and updates. DX12 and all that.

    What's more, I have no problem gaming on steam or epic. Not one single issue with either, and I play many newer games with high or ultra graphics. When I play coop games on steam, I have little if any issue with lag, even with newer games like Dark Tide where the swarms can test my PC.

    The only guidance I can offer to help diagnose my PC is this. When I run Redfall or Zombie Army 4, the two coop games I currently have installed, the splash screen will appear. However, when it's time for the games to load, they literally just crash without any error code. With ZA4, I can even chose to launch in DX12 or Vulcan. I use Vulcan with Baulders Gate 3 on Steam without issue. I use DX12 literally everywhere else without issue. When monitoring the PC, the CPU and memory do not even respond to the games attempting to launch.

    The syncing process appears to work, so I don't think it is a network issue.

    A quick Ctrl+Alt+Del shows that the games do start loading when I click them but then just cut out. No CPU usage, no major memory usage. Just some moderate SSD usage. I've been making and setting up my own rigs since the late 90's and I've never seen anything like this. It appears that Xbox is simply opting to not launch the games on my PC. Does Xbox not allow older CPU's even if they're powerful enough to run the games?

    Oh, forgot to add this, too. Liquid cooled overclocked i7-5820k, 32Gb DDR4, 5700XT THICC III, with an M.2 SSD.
