Why didn't they do this yet (Content Transfer via Ethernet Connection)

The ps5 can let a person transfer all their ps4 game content (game, dlc, save data, etc...) via an ethernet cable connected between the two consoles in question. While microsoft only seems to support either network transfer, or moving all our stuff to an HDD and transferring the stuff on it from one xbox console to another. Now im not trying to throw shade at microsoft right now, they do some good/great stuff every once in a while, but this here puzzles me

Why hasn't microsoft adopted the ethernet cable method of connecting two consoles together and transferring content locally instead of over a network connection, or a hard drive we may not have and possibly can't get because (insert valid reason here). If there's a good reason they havent done this yet, i'd like to know, otherwise this really seems like something microsoft should've picked up on already :/

Because they don't want to or at least didnt want to if they ever choose to implement it, which i doubt they will. Its microsoft dude. the same people who made the kinect, games for windows live, and forced you to pay a subscription to play free games and view netflix and hulu even though you already payed for those. My guess is that it has something to do with money. Its always about the money. Look at Halo Infinite Microtransaction store and how much content they made for that but cut out of the campaign. 343 said themselves they cut 2/3s of the original campaign but you know they got cosmetics to sell for the next 5 years.

I know it has. what im talking about is a non-network focused local transfer between two consoles by way of an ethernet cable connection between the two

If you have it connected via ethernet WHY are you wanting to connect it wirelessly?

Do you plan on moving the console to an area that the ethernet will not reach?

You will get much faster speed with the ethernet cable.

Hi there,

you will have to redownload the content after a license transfer, so if you didn't do that yet, please redownload the content. You don't have to remove the content prior to redownloading, it should just download a small item for the license.

If that doesn't help, please try clearing the cache via Settings - System - Storage - Highlight storage device and press Y and select clear cache. Do this 3x and then restart the console.
