Why didn't my redeem code give me the promised gift?

Good thing you have checked your Microsoft account and made sure that it went through. We can try signing out on Xbox App as well as Microsoft Store and then restart the device before signing back in to re-launch the game.

I forgot to mention one thing though. I didn't "Gift" my friend a code. I logged into their account and redeemed the code normally as they would. Do the conditions still apply? Can't I really refund a game if it was acquired from a redeemable code?

Sorry for the late response!

My gift card code has 25 digits, and I have tried to redeem them on minecraft.net.

I didn't really know that I had to redeem it there; I just searched the internet: Redeem Minecoins. I pressed the first link, and redeemed my code. The code wasn't emailed or whatsoever, I got it as a bill from a machine in a nearby store.

In Minecraft.net, it said follow the instructions in the gift card, and the instructions on the gift card was to redeem it at mojang.com, but I didn't really mind and I searched it up. Hope to get a quick response (even though mine was late).

From my experience, I didn't have that problem. So, I couldn't tell you why that happens.
However, usually, when someone receives a gift, besides the message via Xbox, the recipient receives an email address with the redeemable code.
