Why did the most recent Halo MCC update break multiplayer for the MS store version only?

Anyone who plays Halo MCC purchased from the Microsoft store now has limited access to multiplayer. It's strange that it works at all in a very limited way.

Anyone who bought it on steam or plays on xbox console, it plays fine after the last update. Anyone who purchased it through the MS store, it will only connect to matches after a super long wait, then it will match with the same people for 3-4 matches... then back to waiting another hour to get one more match.

Something is obviously wrong on Microsoft's end.

It's been a problem for at least three weeks, and windows/ms store owners have been talking about it with no response from MS.

Update: only Halo 2 and Halo CE Anniversary crash, Halo Reach just goes back to the Halo MCC splash page.

Halo 3, ODST and 4 run fine.

Hey mate,

That is very strange. What game have you recently installed? Like I said, some games do have a massive update to begin with, like Halo MCC had an update that was 20gb's, Halo 5 had a 9gb I think, and other games also do. The reason being is that blu-ray
discs can only store so much information, so for Halo MCC for example, they actually only had the single player content on disc and the rest was available as an update.

Did anything abnormal happen when you were installing? Its definiately not normal, so hopefully we can get to the bottom of it to prevent it happening again

Well halo reach isn't part of the mcc as it's not part of the master chief story

It's an paid add-on to the mcc just like odst

Only the multiplayer matchmaking is free fyi

Reach is about team noble and tou play noble 6 and odst is about the rookie and buck hence why they weren't included

Halo reach and odst get an HD update with mcc vs the gamepass odst and reach which are 360 copies since the HD remakes makes them xbox one games it removes the region locks that occurs with 360 games

Onto your problem did you sign up for halo waypoint ? Not.sure if there is a pc app but did you check for the waypoint app t?

Waypoint is needed for all halo games and it is something that mcc requires since it affects your matchmaking and armor abilities on the console anyways so either you need to link your waypoint to your xbox account it's how you get bonuses like reach multiplayer or your recon armor on odst or halo 3 which requires certain achievements to be done

i'm going to try to borrow my fiancé's kids halo disc. I have a theory about the downloadable version of the game (which I have on my hdd) being screwed up by the latest system update. hasn't worked right ever since MS came out with the most recent system
update. halo reach doesn't have this problem and I have the downloadable version of that too. and halo 3
