but the majority of games can be played at much higher frame rates on pc without mods or updates, this is the problem with consoles as the games are tailored to the console which means stripping out and locking down settings.

Most games tie their internal actions to frame rate, and you can't change it without reprogramming the game, often with these genres from scratch

Yes, I know there are people who make PC mods, they don't have to ship stable commercial products. The Shenmue port team specifically detailed in their FAQ why it wasn't possible.

As I understand it, the FPS boost work was completed by the same team that worked on the now defunct backwards compatibility program. No BC team, no FPS boost.

It's now up to original game developers to patch or otherwise re-release their games with faster frame rates.

The Orange Box (mainly Half Life 2) would be an amazing edition to the fps boost catalog, can someone pass this along to the team?

Unfortunately the FPS boost program ended with the BC program. There won't be any more FPS boost titles.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate was also not given the boost treatment either. It wasn't such a straightforward procedure as you'd think. If it were, nearly all locked 30fps games would have been given the boost feature.

Right now, the only way to play Black flag at 60fps or more is to play the PC version. With a suitable PC of course.
