    Why did my microphone stop working?


    So today I was doing the same thing as any other day, playing games with my friend. So I was talking to him and I had my headset plugged in and it was perfectly fine. The mic worked, he heard me I heard him. I had something to do so I left my computer idle. When I came back and pressed the left click I heard the headset connecting sound and the microphone stopped working and now just makes a static sound.

    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I tried to update the drives, and I tried everything with volume levels. I tried everything but it just doesn't work and always plays a static sound now. When I press update drives in the device manager in the Realtek sound thingy and change it from Realtek high definition audio to high definition audio device it switches. The microphone start working but the sound is all gone. Please help I've been struggling for days and it was always fine before this. It all happened with a left click in a game (Rust). I've even tried doing things in the game but I'm 100% sure it isn't a problem with it. It doesn't work anywhere now. (Everything was the same for a year and it was fine)

    We understand your sentiment with your microphone not working. We know that microphone plays big role in playing with a friend and with that let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

    Based on your description, the headset did not work after left being idle. To have a better understanding, we would like to further isolate your concern.

    1. You are on PC, right? Aside from Rust, may we ask other games you encounter same issue with?
    2. Did unplugging the headset work? Is your headset connected to PC using USB connector or 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter?
    3. May we ask if you can try to use the microphone in recording your voice through the Voice Recorder app of your PC?
    4. Can you please try to use other headset and see if issue persist? Also, can you record a voice on Voice Recorder app of your PC using different headset?
    5. May we confirm if your headset will work when connected to other device (PC or mobile)? Will you be able to use the microphone by recording your voice using your device's audio recording app?

    Why did my controller stop working

    Hey,

    take out the batteries and try it only with the USB cable.

    If it works go to the setting and check if there is an update available for the controller (the 3 dots under the controller picture).

    If it doesn't work could you try to the test the controller with a PC or a different console ?

    To find out if it's a controller or a console issue.

    Why not just say you want a wireless microphone which works with xbox one that would stop the confusion, up to now I have not seen or read any plans for this device.
