    Why did Minecraft change my gamertag associated with my Microsoft account?


    My gamer tag for Minecraft has always been TacticalHen830 since I started playing Minecraft logged in with my Microsoft account on Nintendo Switch this year.

    Today the game prompted me to re-login to my Microsoft Account.

    I diligently did so and the game now assigned me the gamertag TinPuppy9782343 ALL MY ACHIEVEMENTS AND MARKETPLACE PURCHASES AND LINKED FRIENDS ARE GONE!

    As far as I am aware my only Microsoft account is linked to my old hotmail.com email which is *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***

    It seems that some of the games data is attached to that specific gamertag and I am hoping that you can help me resolve what is going on here. What happened to all my achievements and how can I get them back?

    This is actually most important to my son as he is the one that actually plays the most and has lost all his progress. He is quite upset.

    Lost Minecraft Account

    This is really strange to me, the microsoft account was not hacked, I don't think. I can still access my microsoft account, it is this one currently being used to message. You see I had a gamertag associated with my minecraft account, I went to login one day, and the gamertag had changed and I could not access my account.

    Technically transfers cannot be do but you can change the email address associated with a microsoft account.

    In order to associate the gamertag with another account you will need to create a whole account with an email address and then do the following to associate the gamertag to that account. How

    Each 360 account can be associated with a Live account.

    Currently I have:

    old 360 account -> associated with my Live account but with the old gamertag

    new 360 account -> associated with my Live account but with the new gamertag

    The new account got created when I downloaded my profile using my microsoft sign in. The old account was associated with the same microsoft sign in but it didn't recognize my gamertag change. Now it won't let me sign in to live because it asks for my microsoft
    sign in details. I'm guessing the sign in fails because it's trying to find the microsoft account associated with the old gamertag.

    I either need to somehow transfer my saves over to the new 360 account so I can upload them to the cloud, or I need someway for my Xbox to realize that my gamertag changed on the old account so I can sign into live again with that account.
