Why can't you just make things update automatically?

I guess there's a new minecraft patch 1.18.2

I was able to play just normally but my girlfriend couldn't get into my server - her version is showing updated to 1.18.2 but I'm still showing 1.18.1. She's getting a "outdated client" error

I tried uninstalling minecraft and now it just fails when I try to install it. I assume it's because so many people are trying to to the same today. Why do you people make it SO HARD - I've had nothing but trouble. Most games just update automatically but for some reason microsoft makes it super hard to get anything to work or install correctly.

I got a warning message yesterday, but nothing I could figure out would actually update the thing.

WHAT DO I DO to get my realm and my PC version of minecraft updated?

Still looking into this. Glad the version issue on the other computers got fixed.

Curious though, have you attempted to download and launch Minecraft through the new launcher? Mojang released a new launcher recently with the Java migration that is happening. You can find an FAQ here on this.

This might help bypass the issue you are having with the store specifically and give you another space to attempt to launch the game and might be a work around for now. Just make sure to install the launcher on your C drive to avoid any potential issues.

So is there no resolution for this issue? it says the problem is on YOUR end. I've reset the windows store app, done a "clean" boot, everything I could fin donline.

The client error (apparently different clients between the realm and the PC) has resolved itself on my other computer, and for my girlfriend's subscription as well. it was a LITTLE weird that the initial screen said that the realm was in the process of being updated, but then when you hit continue it said the realm was updated and gave the client error.

ANYWAY - that seems to have resolved itself. Problem is on my main computer, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft, and have not been able to re-install it. See attached. I assume the server is overloaded or something with all the people trying to update, but this is very frustrating.

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having with Minecraft.

I have a couple of questions to help me figure out an answer for you.

1) Are you part of any of the beta programs for Minecraft? The Preview, Accessibility Preview, or Insider flight? These all have different versions that specifically state don't allow multiplayer with people outside the programs because of content restrictions.

2) What was the warning message you received? Would you be able to post a screen shot of it? Please remove any personal information including gamer tags before posting.

3) With the 1.18 updates, these came with the Cliffs and Cave update. This feature also updated worlds with new parameters. This page is Mojangs FAQ for everything pertaining to that update, including how to update your world to these new features. I would take a look here to see if this might be causing your issue as well.
