I have the same question. Why do i have to manually change the headset audio to stereo to get the any sort of surround audio output to my receiver. I would be happy with a simple bitstream out while headset is connected because my receiver has codecs
to decode ATMOS but all that is being sent as 2 channel stereo which sounds like garbage.

Why can't my XB1X output Atmos to AV Reciever with wireless Atmos USB headset attached????

I have just purchased a plantronics 800lx headset which I plan to leave connected at all time via USB as the are wireless. When they are connected I get atmos to my headset, but the sound to my AV receiver changes to standard Doldy D. When I unplug my headset
the sound to my AVR reverts back to Atmos....

I don't want to have to keep connecting and disconnecting my headset when I want to use them.

I purchased wireless head for a reason, I don't want to have the haste of messing with wires all the time.......

Atmos Problem

I have a problem with Atmos. When the X1X is set up to output Dolby Atmos through my Denon AV receiver all Atmos titles from Blu-ray movies to Netflix work perfectly but everything else that isn’t Atmos is output as the lesser Dolby Surround even
titles that are Dolby Digital (which are most games and Blu-ray movies) are reduced to Dolby Surround, all Netflix titles that are DD5.1 are also reduced to Dolby Surround, however once I turn off Atmos in the X1X settings I get Dolby Digital displayed from
the other sources again on the Denon. Seems like Atmos is blocking Dolby Digital. Very annoying to keep changing settings depending on the content.

Dolby Atmos for headsets on Xbox One is designed so that all audio is optimized for that headset, which means the audio settings for your Dolby Atmos home audio system doesn't take effect to allow the headset to utilize the audio technology to provide the
best quality of audio for the headsets. By design it doesn't seem like you can use the Dolby Atmos technology for your home surround sound system and your headsets at the same time.

Hi There

With you purchasing the soundbar that supports Atmos, the hardware will tell the console that it is supported (and you ahve changed your output method to Bitstream out, for the soundbar)

As for the Headsets, Dolby requires that you purchase the Atmos app to enable atmos on the headset.

If you have tried that but still can't enable Dolby Atmos while you have everything plugged in, then just disconnect the optical cable but leave the USB plugged in, which is what charges the headset, not the optical cable.

The optical cable does not trigger the Xbox to see the base station...it's the USB cable that - when connected - prompts the Xbox to recognize the presence of the base station/headset and disables Atmos. So it's not possible to charge the headset and use
Atmos.

The optical cable can stay plugged in at all times and does not effect the ability to enable Atmos.

Hi again and thanks to Keep us informed. I connected my Headset (the Transmitter) at my console. Maybe this cause the Problem! If you want to use it via the home theatre reciever, the reciever has to deliver the Atmos to the Headset - but the software
is on the console. You can try if you choose Atmos for the reciever but better you connect your headset at the console.

Say on Shadow of the Tombraider box that the game is with dolby atmos and rhere is no option in the Game menu that enables bitstream atmos signal.

The game must output bitstream signal so that the amp reciever recognise and decode the atmos audio. As a regularr bluray movie does

It is a shame as i was looking forward to she how a game sounds in atmos.hope or wish they make an update to solve this issue

Enabling atmos from xbox audio menu is just a shorcut and does not show the real 5.1.2 signal
