    Why Can’t we Take Screenshots of Title Screens in Games?


    I buy all my games digital. Sometimes I want to take a screenshot of a games front cover art. The cover art is usually the first screen that pops up when booting a game. Why are we not allowed to take a screenshot of it?

    Because screenshots are from the GPU frame buffer, which doesn't include UI elements that are added later in the chain as an overlay

    The short answer for this is to avoid DRM, this is why you can record only your gameplay and not streaming apps / apps in general or the dashboard
