    Why can't we permanently disable Quick Resume?


    I abhor the Xbox Quick Resume "feature." It causes -way- too many problems with on-line games that NEED to load fresh every time from start to make sure any updates are properly loaded. And I'm almost positive that I completely lost my Expedition 33 save game because of the feature. Was playing downstairs on Series S. Exited to title menu of game and shut down system. Went upstairs to play on Series X (which tried to quick resume to when I was playing last up there), and the game said it needed to close. Upon opening again, only had options for "New Game" or "Settings." Tried downstairs, EXACT same sequence occurred. Talked to MS support, they had me try all kinds of things to get it to work, as the save game was still in the cloud. But game won't recognize it, even though it shows "syncing" if I delete the local copy of the save game so that it has to reacquire it from the server. 100% don't think this would have happened without Quick Resume, as the game would have gone through the process of checking the server for a save file upon startup, instead of trying to quick resume me into a game that didn't match the server's save file.

    Please, PLEASE give us the option to permanently disable Quick Resume if we prefer that. It's to the point where I just want to switch to gaming on a Steam Deck because I don't feel like that wouldn't be a problem there.

    Do not listen to them, that will do nothing

    While disabling Quick Resume is being investigated, there is not guarantee if or when it would be possible as it's a low level system function. It is currently impossible to do so. WHen you finish playing, hit start on the game and go to quit to kill theQR

    Hi, AlmostSuspense! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble playing your game on your PC. No worries, I'm happy to assist you with this today.

    Basically, that is the only way we can disable the quick resume for a certain game. However, if that is not working, you can try to reset the console this way and see if it will help fix the issue.

    IMPORTANT: Make sure to remember the email and password for the account before taking these steps.

    Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info > Reset console.

    Select "Reset and keep my games & apps

    How much would it cost me to have quick resume disabled on my Xbox?

    Disabling quick resume is being explored, but there is no ETA on when it will happen or even if it can. Quick resume is baked into the hardware at very low level and may not be able to be disabled.

    because it's a basic part of the operating system that cannot just be disabled without potential catastrophic consequences. It's the same reason why you can't delete your achievements. You don't want to remove things from a giant database because he couldn't have cascade failures that wipe everything.

    Disabling quick resume is currently being looked into according to Phil Spencer, whether or not it can be done is still up in the air, and the next time there is news, there will be some kind of public announcement, likely as part of a major system update

    I can understand exactly how you feel. I be loading into Apex Legends and get disconnected, It would nice if quick resume was toggle able
