    Why Can't We Get A Legacy Stick Option on Xbox Accessories App?


    There's so many times that I've gone to play a game and can't because for some reason Legacy Sticks aren't an option. I've ran into this in GTA5, Rainbow Six Siege, etc. Most modern FPS games have Legacy Sticks as an option, with best selling titles such as Halo, Call of Duty, and Gears of War having this option.

    Some may wonder what Legacy Sticks are and why it's imperative to us older gamers. See, Legacy Sticks came around and was most prominent by those of us that grew up and was introduced to Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark on the Nintendo 64. There was 1 stick for forward/backward movement and you LOOKED with that same stick. The C buttons, were used for looking up/down and strafing left/right.

    Then dual stick consoles (Xbox/PS) started using a new movement model where all movement was left stick and all looking tied to the right. This new "default" set the precedent for FPS shooters, but developers understood the need for including the older "Legacy Stick" option for the older gamers joining into gaming. As time has gone on though, developers have cared less and less about helping the gaming community that actually NEEDS this option available in order to play games. Frustrating purchases over missing control schemes means gamers get mad at developers who refuse to refund or help gamers out in these scenarios. Like, why alienate a percentage of the playerbase by not including an industry-common control setup that most game series have used for years now?

    Some of us grew up on this configuration from the mid-90's and it's like going from right-handed to left-handed on everything, if you were predominantly right. It's hard and makes some games very frustrating.

    This is where Microsoft can fix this. Microsoft and Xbox in general want more accessibility out to players, so can we please get an option for Legacy Sticks to be added to the Xbox Accessories App? We have a useless option to swap sticks entirely, but that does nothing for the Legacy crowd. The easiest explanation for the option is a button toggle, that when selected swaps th Left Stick X-axis with the Right Stick X-axis. That's it. Simple option that would completely eliminate hassle and frustration for a good percentage of players in games that decide to not support the option.

    Can we make this happen? Please +1 for the Legacy Crowd!

    If you have an standard Xbox controller, you can't change the dead zone in the Xbox accessories app, this will have to be changed in the game settings, if the game has the options for it

    If you have an elite controller, on the accessories app you can change the response curve of the sticks that will be kind of a deadzone setting

    I do understand the urgency of you wanting to find other ways for this issue of yours in regards with your controller. We are very glad to help you out to find some of the best possible options and troubleshooting's that we can provide for you.

    I understand that you would like to have access to both the Xbox accessories app for the standard controller and the Xbox adaptive controller to be able to remap the x-axis of the sticks. I will do my best to assist you with this concern.



    Now, to address your concern, the Xbox accessories app for the standard controller does not allow you to remap the x-axis of the sticks. However, the Xbox accessories app for the Xbox adaptive controller does allow you to remap both the x-axis and y-axis of the sticks.



    To access the Xbox accessories app for the Xbox adaptive controller, you will need to connect the controller to your Windows 10 PC using a USB cable or Xbox Wireless Adapter. Once connected, you can download and install the Xbox accessories app from the Microsoft Store.



    After installing the app, you can launch it and select the Xbox adaptive controller from the list of connected devices. From there, you can select the stick you want to remap and choose the "Remap button" option. This will allow you to remap both the x-axis and y-axis of the stick to any other button or axis on the controller.



    Regarding your concern about remapping the x-axis of the right stick for camera controls, you can use the Xbox accessories app for the Xbox adaptive controller to remap the stick to your desired configuration. For example, you can remap the right stick's x-axis to the left stick's x-axis and vice versa.



    As for remapping the x-axis of the left stick for a right-handed fight stick, you can also use the Xbox accessories app for the Xbox adaptive controller to remap the stick to your desired configuration. You can remap the left stick's x-axis to the right stick's x-axis and vice versa.

    If this is happening everywhere and not just with Fifa 19 I would check the Xbox Accessories app on the console as it has a couple of options in the app that can invert the X and Y axis on the controller left stick.

    If you go to the Xbox Accessories app, are you able to customise the right stick to recalibrate and fix this issue?

    The Xbox Accessories app allows you control over the rotation etc, so it could be this is the cause.
