Why cant my son create a MyPlayer?

You can, according to the support page:

"Note You won’t be able to change Microsoft account info for a child account if you didn’t provide consent when their account was created.

Sign in to your account.

Select Manage my child's profile info.

Select Edit this child's personal info.

Update birthdate and select Save."

Is there a way to change his DOB? He just wants to create a player and play with me in the park.

if the microsoft account date of birth is below 18 then it will detect this so as not to bypass age restrictions.

I had the same problem with my son’s account. Changed every permission in Xbox settings and still no luck.

Then I stumbled on the solution which is as stupid as the original problem….

I created a brand new profile and started 2K23, this profile was allowed to to create a myPlayer account. When I got to the enter email screen I switched Xbox profiles back to my son’s profile. It then lets you complete the myPlayer activation under the new profile.

Ludicrous that this works but ludicrous that the problem occurred in the first place!

atleast you have your MyPlayer. I cant connect NOR have my MyPlayers. 2k buggin.
