Why can’t I unlink my Microsoft account from Minecraft?

Just like the title says, I’m unable to unlink my Microsoft account from my Minecraft account.

Here’s some information about my situation:

- I’m playing on a PlayStation 4

- I’m trying to link whatever account could be linked to my Minecraft PS4 account

- I’ve already contacted Minecraft support. They have nothing to do with account management.

- I’ve also tried contacting Xbox support, but neither call nor chat is supported.

In Minecraft, to play on realms and servers, you need to log into a Microsoft account. A long time ago, I logged into a Microsoft account that I used to play on both realms and servers. I was logged out for an unknown reason and then I just forgot about it. When I wanted to play on a server again, I couldn’t since I had to sign in to my linked Microsoft account (which is the first account I had) but I had forgotten the email and password for it (I still remember the gamer tag though).

Basically, I want to contact Xbox support so that they can help me with this problem and unlink my account, although, when I tried, I just couldn’t find a way to do it. They don’t have a specific category for this type of thing. All I need is for them to unlink my old account so that I can link a new one.

If you can help me with this issue then I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks for reading.

Unfortunately theres nothing that can be done about that because Sony only lets you link a single Microsoft account to your PSN for Minecraft.

Even if you could unlink the old Microsoft account, Sony wont let you link a different one.

The only option is to create a brand new PSN account and link a new Microsoft account to that.

I am sorry to know about that. I know how frustrating that must be. I would feel the same way if I were on your situation.

Since this is an in-game account issue specifically for unlinking Microsoft account from your PS4 account on Minecraft, it would be best to directly contact the Minecraft team for them to investigate and find other options for you.

You can unlink the psn account however you CANT link a different one.

Note: Once a Microsoft account has been linked to a PlayStation® account, neither the Microsoft account nor the PlayStation™ Network account can be associated with a different account. 

If you choose to unlink accounts, then purchases will be returned to the account which made the purchase. Even after unlinking, Microsoft and PlayStation® accounts can only be re-linked to the original account.
