Why can't I turn off parental controls?

I currently am 18 and have parental controls turned on for my account meaning that i cant play games online and obviously it's a bit excessive given the rules were put on the account over 8 years ago. Surely the system would recognize my birth date as over 18 but now i am stuck for a month without playing online with friends because i also dont have access to the phone I had when I was that young, shocker! Please get this fixed its such a pointless system to have for anyone over the age of 18.

For now I guess I will wait a month to play something I paid 20 quid for

If you prove Microsoft you're an adult now, you can change your account from a child account to an adult account (which doesn't have parental control)

You cannot change the age but you can turn off Parental Controls. See:
support.xbox.com/.../parental-control for the steps (that document tells you how to turn them on but it is the same steps for turning them off... You can see the Off option in the image).

this is part of the parental controls. access to live is turned off, you need to turn parental controls off.

try creating a new gamertag (and deleting all old ones) and put your age as over 18 or 21 in the US
