Why can't I seem to extend my Xbox Live GOld subscription?

Update; Extended Gold subscription and everything seems to be in order. Still would like to know why this occurred.

All good, I just had to extend my Xbox live Gold subscription

For extending xbox live gold it is found under settings, account and subscriptions

if you go to the store on your xbox, can you see the option to extend your subscription?

if you can't, go to your account at https://account.microsoft.com/services/ and turn off the recurring billing then see if you can extend your Live Gold in the store

Beginning of December I bought xbox live gold for 12 months, which I extended today with 12 months and 6 months. I received an additional month for checking the automatic renewal option for this subscription, so my xbox live gold ran until July 2022, for
a total of 31 months. Afterwards (still today) I paid for the three months of Ultimate Game Pass, which would still not go over the 36 months, but would extend it to 34 months. There is no information whatsoever in my subscription information page linked to
my account as to why the period is now only 27 months, which is not very transparent.
