I understand some of the internal storage will be used for updates and essential functions. But over 130gbs? And why can’t I see what it’s being used for? I have 365 available out of 500gbs. The 135gbs is only more frustrating because I can’t see what it’s purpose is. That’s like a car dealership saying a seat and a half is reserved for essential Functions so they can’t be used.

Why can’t I see all of my Xbox storage?

Should.be noted the reserve space is for system files and updates

It's to keep the system running smoothly even with updates games.and saves

This is applicable to anything pc consoles even phones and tv setop boxes

Filling in your user space.is.always a bad idea

Consoles and phones do so to protect the system

    There is a difference

Reserve.space is used to protect.you and the systrm

    It's not.a car.seat it's.more.like.space in your front engine

You can't.remove.the engine space without losijn ability to add.mods.to your car

Or worse asking your car to remove space from the car os to add songs

    It.is reserved for a reason

    Hi <Username>

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

I do understand the urgency of you wanting to find other ways for this issue of yours in regards with your <ISSUE>. We are very glad to help you out to find some of the best possible options and troubleshooting's that we can provide for you.

First and foremost, it is important to note that the Xbox system software and essential functions require a certain amount of storage space to operate efficiently. This includes system updates, game updates, and other essential functions that are necessary for the Xbox to function properly. This is why you may see a large amount of storage being used on your Xbox.

However, it is also possible that there may be other files or data taking up space on your Xbox that you are not aware of. To check what is taking up space on your Xbox, you can follow these steps:

    • Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
    • Go to System > Settings > System > Storage.
    • Select the storage device you want to check.
    • You will see a breakdown of how much space is being used by games, apps, and other content.

In addition, you can also try to see this article for reference on your Xbox Console Storage: Manage storage on your Xbox Console

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your issue. I hope all of this information's are helpful. We look forward on your response.

Why can’t I see all of my Xbox storage?

Some of it is because of the way 1GB is defined. Manufacturers define 1GB as 1,000,000 bytes when advertising storage size, but to an operating system, 1GB is 1,073,741,824 bytes, so even if that 500GB drive was blank, it would still show up as 465GB in size because of that.

The drive is split into 5 partitions, with only the User Content partition available to the user for game/app/DLC storage, which is the 365GB you're seeing. The other partitions are used for the operating system itself, temporary files, caching, updates etc.

They don't give you any kind of file browsing mechanism for the entire drive because there would be no point. There's nothing you could do with that information, and it would only complicate the experience.

Storage is storage. You know the engine is essential space. The back seat is space that’s there that can’t be used and can be seen. So I guess it’s a bad an example because I still haven’t had anyone tell me why almost a 3rd is being used and I can’t SEE it. Like on an iPhone, you can see your storage and mostly what it’s being used for. So I’m just supposed to believe that all of that space is for updates and files. What files? I don’t know, I can’t see it. Even on a pc you can see what’s in your storage.

Hi. My name is Brilliant and I am happy to assist you today.

The Xbox Series S only has 364 GB of usable storage since the system files take up close to 30% of the total storage capacity. You can increase the storage on your Xbox with an Xbox Expansion Storage Card or an external USB drive.

For more details on the above kindly visit: https://sortatechy.com/xbox-series-... Xbox Series S only,or an external USB drive.

I hope this helps with your query.
