Why can't I play Starfield on PC with my XBox Game Pass Ultimate subscription?

I haven't had ultimate but I had normal game pass for pc before

That would be why you can't redeem it then...from the FAQs in the link I posted before:

"If you were previously subscribed or currently subscribed to Xbox Game Pass for PC, or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you will not be able to redeem the two month trial for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate!"

I verified that I have an active subscription. When I went to sign out from the Xbox app, I realized I was not signed in to the XBox app. Once I signed in there, I was given the option of downloading Starfield in the Xbox app.

You're right, Game Pass Ultimate includes both Game Pass for console and PC Game Pass, so it should let you play Starfield without having to buy anything else.

First of all, please verify that your subscription purchase appears as completed through your account order history:

Also confirm that the subscription appears as active and with an expiration date at the following link:

If everything appears in order in the two links that I shared with you previously, then please try synchronizing your account licenses in your Xbox application and Microsoft Store using the following procedure:

1. Sign out of both the Microsoft Store and the Xbox App.

2. Perform a reset of the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store:

- Press the Windows + I keys on your keyboard to open Windows settings and click on "Applications".

- Find the app called "Xbox" and select it, then click on "Advanced Options" and then on "Reset" and confirm the process, do the same for the app called "Microsoft Store".

3. Restart your PC.

4. Sign back into the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store. Make sure you do it with the same account and that they are not different.

Likewise, check that you are logging into the correct Microsoft account that originally purchased the subscription since there is a possibility that you are using a different one.

I'm switching to Game Pass Ultimate because I play on the PC a lot too, so it makes sense to add Game Pass for PC to my set of Xbox subscriptions. Having them all tied into one payment with Ultimate just makes it easier. Plus, with my current active subscriptions,
I'll be good on Ultimate for around 2 years.

my father has a game pass ultimate. He's able to play pc/ultimate. my Xbox is home. When I try playing on the pc it asked me to buy it. how can you help me?

Are you logging in on your father's account, or your own account? Because my fiance wanted to play the Halo: MCC on the PC one time, but she had to be signed into my Xbox account in order to be able to play it because my account is Game Pass Ultimate. Otherwise,
you have to have your own Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
