Why can't I play my older PC / GFWL games?

    Why can't I play my older PC / GFWL games?


    I realize that Games for Windows Live shut down some time ago so that no more purchases can be made. However, I used to be able to access my old games still. However, when I try to sign in now to play my older games I get an error message and it won't
    show my purchase history. Is this because GFWL is not supported at all any longer or is this because my Windows Installation crashed and I had to reinstall it... or perhaps both?

    Why can't I play my older PC / GFWL games?

    When I log into GFWL to access / re-download my purchases it tells me that "There was an error retrieving your purchase history. Please sign out and try again later." It also shows my gamerscore as 0 and a generic silhouette for my profile pic, though
    it does correctly show my gamertag. I can't seem to find my old games (in particular, I'm looking for Tinker), but this may be because of my having had to reinstall windows a while back when it crashed on me.

    GFWL Client Error - "There was an error retrieving your purchase history"

    I have 15 -20 games and various DLC's attached to my account that I can't play now, why is this an issue!!! It was fine for years, GFWL still works in Steam games that are compatible like Street Fighter X Tekken, but GFWL client is unresponsive, what gives!?

    xboxlive on windows 8

    gfwl kinda sucks anyway so why should they add xboxlive to windows 8 if you only will be able to play gfwl games on it. I have never understod why you should use gfwl when steam is so so much better.
