Why can't I play multiplayer games with my son in the same house?

• How do I change my cross-network play settings?
  
  • To change your settings for cross-network play, follow the below steps:
    
    • Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system > Settings > Account.
      
    • Select Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details and customize > Communication & multiplayer.
      
      • Note – For a family member, from Account, select Family settings > Manage family members. Choose a family member, and then follow step 2 above.
        
    • Choose settings for the following options.
      
      • You can join multiplayer games. This allows you to play multiplayer games. Note that it doesn’t enable communication. Choose Allow of Block.
        
      • You can join cross-network play. This allows or prohibits all cross-network play. Choose Allow or Block.

I also have this problem and have for a while. I am trying to play Farming Simulator with my son in the same house. I also get the connection error.

i can create a multiplayer game myself and same with my son but we cant join the others game.

I have the same question as well! Why cant my kids play online together! If my other son can join in praying on another devise in the same house then why can they not both play on the xbox online together split screen????

The issues began before I cancelled the subscriptions.

My son's still can't play shared games unless my profile is logged in

But if I'm logged in to one xbox, then it logs me out of the other xbox.

So both son's can't play at the same time, why can't they play these games from their profiles?
