    What are you trying to play and what is the exact message you get? Gold is for playing online multiplayer on the console. It's not needed for PC.

    i have bought a second hand xbox and it works perfectly . i have purchased a 12 month live gold membership and redeemed it and have had an e mail to confirm . but i cant play any live games , it comes up with you need to have live gold to play this game
    or connections your profile does not have the correct permissions to access xbox live functionality . why is this ?

    Cant update payment options so i cant pay Xbox live gold ,error message - Sorry we have a problem with xbox service and so on. Status code 80070428 Can not do it on the computer either.
