Why can't I play a game I owned on xbox one disk on series s when I've downloaded it.

Yes, i own the discs. They were for xbox 1

I can't figure out why I can no longer play them on my xbox series s.

It will not let me play any of them unless I resubscribe to game pass.

Did you own it on disk? In order to play it, the disk needs to be in the drive to prove you own the game. Since the Series S doesn't have a disk drive, you would need to own it digitally in order to be able to play it. Since the game is no longer available for digital purchase, there would be no way to play it on the Series S unless you had previously purchased it digitally.

I have the same issue, except I had the digital version of Overwatch Origins Edition on my previous Xbox One. I've played the game for years on the Xbox One, but now I upgraded to a Series S and Overwatch does not show up with my other games in the 'all owned games' section - so I can't download it. The only option is to pay another $60 for legendary edition on the store, just to keep playing the game that I already own and have played for years. Any advice here?
