Why can’t I join my friend private sessions?

I can’t join my friends private sessions or worlds, everytime he creates a private game and invites me it always says “failed to join”, all of our other friends can join his game. And it’s the same way when I make a private game, everyone can join but him. I don’t know what it could be. We both are on the same console and never had this problem before.

I understand you’re having some trouble when trying to join your friend’s world in Minecraft. Let’s try to sort this out.

However, before that, I would like to ask:

Do you have your privacy and multiplayer features enabled? Ask your friend the same.

Are you experiencing something similar when trying to play with your friend a different game, or is just Minecraft?
What’s your NAT type? Review this by opening Xbox settings > network configuration. Ask your friend the same.

Lastly, what procedures you tried to fix this prior to your post creation?

no they can join private crew sessions, they can join private friend sessions, they can join even though i have them blocked, they can join even though i appear offline. why did a mod remove all the links of my evidence and not comment/message me. they do
this for my whole crew of 400 people but probably only 100 active people. xbox has rules against harassment and trolling and since it is starting to be the second month with looking like its never going to be over i thought i would post this.

A55a33in I think that happened to me as well. I linked my GT to get 2XP but then I couldn't invite anybody into Private Spec Ops lobbies or Multiplayer. This is very frustrating. I've cleared System Cache, but when I send invites all my friends get "unable
to join session" or "This session is full or private and you're unnable to join". Anybody have advice on this? I cleared my System Cache and that didn't help.

Thank you for contacting the forums. I am sorry to hear you having issues with joining your friends in a game. Sometimes whenever the option for joining a game can be grey out due to a fully party, private session or in an active session. Is this happening
for all of your friends and what is your NAT type connection on the Xbox?

My friends haven’t been able to join me on ARK Survival Evolved (Non-Dedicated Session), Astroneer, Kingdom Two Crowns and there may be others I don’t remember.

The weird thing is that sometimes they can join me on those games and other times they can’t and it says “Failed to Connect”.

Why can’t I join my friend private sessions?
