Why can’t I delete cloud storage for 360 games on xbox series X?

Genuinely who at Microsoft thought it was a good idea to give you limited storage for 360 games on the series x or s? I literally can’t play any 360 games because my cloud storage for 360 games is full and there is no where to delete the storage to free up space. I already talked to support about this last month and they seriously told me to factory reset my console. Are you being serious Microsoft? Literally a waste of money. Fix your stuff, because at this point it’s a literal scam. You guys scammed me out of money, I just want to play 360 games and you won’t let me. It’s quite ridiculous and inexcusable in the year of 2025 when I know you guys can easily fix this yet you put in no effort.

Hi there, you're welcome! No please don't delete the games you have installed. There should be an option on Xbox series S as well to delete local save storage for xbox 360. Since Xbox 360 backwards compatible games also runs on Xbox one up to Xbox series X.

Try going to Settings > System > Storage > Clear local Xbox 360 storage this option should show up. It will delete the saved games locally but the cloud saves will remain.

In addition what Onyx said: If you have opened the 360 menu go to "manage games", click on a game and there you can delete unnecessary game saves.

The second solution you named worked, thank you. I was talking with Xbox support for over an hour over a month ago and they couldn’t give mr this solution. I appreciate you, and hopefully this helps others as well.

Hello Jacob_047, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

Please try highlighting the game on the console dashboard and press the Start button. Select Manage then on the next screen scroll down to the game save section and delete it from there.

If you are not able to do that there then please try launching a 360 game and press the Start and Back buttons on the controller at the same time after the game has started to bring up the 360 menu. See if you're able to clear local game storage there.

Unfortunately, you cannot directly connect your Xbox 360 hard drive to your Xbox Series X. However, you can still transfer your saved game progress from your Xbox 360 to your Xbox Series X using cloud storage¹. Here's how you can do it:

1. On your Xbox 360, sign in to your Xbox Live account.
2. Go to `Settings` > `System` > `Storage` > `Cloud Saved Games`, and select `Enable`.
3. Start the game on your Xbox 360 and save your progress to the cloud.
4. On your Xbox Series X, sign in to the same Xbox Live account.
5. Start the game on your Xbox Series X, and your saved progress should be available.
