Why can't I change my gamertag back to my old one

I changed my gamertag a little bit ago but I regret doing so and would like to change it back to my old one. When I try to change it I get a message saying it's not allowed, I'm not sure why because its not offensive and from what I can tell, it's still available.

Current gamertag: OTM b0ss

I'm sorry you are experiencing this with your Gamertag change. No worries, let me help you sort this out.

Based on the information I've gathered, there are certain reasons as to why the Gamer tag is not allowed anymore and it's the enforcement team who decides. Most likely, a letter combination is not allowed, or the advance system prevents you from using it now.

Kindly try changing some characters around and see if you can find a suitable combination that works.

But the gamertag that I want to change is my old gamertag. I change my old gamertag on 2 August 2020. I used that old gamertag when I create my Xbox account. At that time, the system allow me to use that gamertag. But when I want to change it back, the system don't allow me to use it. Why is this like that?

I just changed my gamertag and the EA account says I still have it linked to my old gamertag. I haven't changed my Microsoft account at all only my gamertag. I can't get it back since to change your gamertag it has to be under 12 characters and my old gamertag is 14 characters.

Unfortunately you wont be able to revert back to your old gamertag.

If you are trying to change the gamertag back to the old one and it is says its not available then its not available.

The problem is this MS made a new policy change where any new gamertags including changes in gamertags have a limit of 12 characters.

The old gamertag is 14 characters so this is why it is not available for you to change your gamertag back.

Well, I don't need to change my gamertag for my new (accidentally) created account. I just need to log back into my old xbox account.

And if I try to use my old gamertag, it says that it's already used. Trying to add a # makes it say that I need to have 12 characters or less.

My email doesn't access 2 accounts, it only accesses the new one and I can't log back into my old one.
