    Why can't i change classic gamer tag?


    Helo there! I cant change my classic gamer tag. I tried to change It lik 14 time but every time I get messege that says that I can't do it right now and that I have to try it another time. Can someone help me?

    Why can't i change classic gamer tag?

    Because it's there for legacy compatibility with games that will break with the new format. All changes to gamertags now use the same system that includes the numbers.

    New gamertag not showing in game.

    A couple of years ago, Microsoft updated the gamertag system so people could use the same tags and use special characters in their tags. If you have special characters in your tag, your old gamertag remains on your account as your "classic" gamertag (that is the tag underneath your new tag). The "classic" tag can also show if you were given the option to change both when you changed your tag and only changed the new one. It can happen for a few reasons. The "classic" tag is used in areas that haven't been updated to work with the new syste. Which is why you still see it in games.
