    Why can I stream and play games using 4g but not download xbox content.


    Equipped with my new all-I-can-eat download capabilities with Superdrug unlimited data plan figured I'd download Apex. Im not certain but it basically downloaded just enough to play the game with lower
    fidelity. Then told me there is a problem with the download and i should download again when my internet improves, this is now a permanent problem.

    Things I know:

    Superdrug have no blocks at all on my data

    Xbox speed test shows between 30 and 40 Mbps Dl speed

    3g signal does work to download

    4g does not work to download or update

    4g works to play games or stream on the xbox

    4g works to download games on the ps4

    I did manage to download the microsoft store update using 4g

    It seems I can download any apps from the store but not games.

    Connecting to WiFi also works

    I have deleted stored save files, put my dns as google, reallowed things to be stored on the hdd

    You just not accepting answers that are correct

    Mobile hotspots arent designed for LARGE DOWNLOADS

    when playing multiplayer you dont need a consistent speed though you will have severe ping that someone might boot you

    With LTE OR 3G it doesnt matter because it is wireless you will have ups and downs with your signal thats why your download speed would be variable even on ps4

    Again it depends on thr download ps4 can time out also but they continue the download but it may take all night

    Keep in mind timing out can cause corruption of the download

    As mentioned you need a broadband connection want proof oh check your isp forums

    Its fiull ofit as typical of any lte providers

    Its NOT what you think it is

    And connection issues has to be dealt with at your isp

    You need ports open etc spexific to your MODEM or phone

    Superdrug uses the 3 network, in fact it is the 3 network which categorically does not block or throttle its users.

    Strangely I can download apps from the store using 4g data but not games

    Im not blocked because they have told me this and I can download with no problems on the PS4

    And the xbox system tells me itself im getting 40Mbps download speeds.

    So you say you CAN download stuff on Xbox when connected to 3G, but on 4G you can NOT download stuff from the store?

    Does your public IP address change when you switch from 3G to 4G (i.e. is Superdrug using a different reseller provider to offer their 3G/4G services)?

    Check websites like https://www.whatismyip.com/ if your public IP is different from 3G compared to 4G.

    If Superdrug uses different providers to connect to different cellular networks, those might be the ones that block/throttle, not Superdrug.
