    Why can I hear party chat but absolutely nothing else?


    This is ridiculous, I can hear and chat with people in Xbox party chat but I can’t hear games, youtube, Spotify, I can’t even hear my Xbox when I move the cursor around to different menu options, no notification sounds, nothing.

    I’ve done all of the basics with trying to go through my audio settings and making sure it’s all set up correctly, I haven’t messed with Dolby atmos at all period, I’ve used other controllers (all updated) and still nothing but ONLY party chat. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE. I’m even looking at my controller settings and it’s actively saying there’s a headset plugged in so I don’t know why it’s not working like it is.

    I have an Xbox series S so it’s not because of an outdated model either.

    I understand you need help with your audio problem. Are you hearing the sound from your tv speakers or no?

    Let's refresh the console's system cache see if this helps.

    NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

    No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select System.
    4. Select Console info
    5. Select Reset console.
    6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

    This will also help sync the data on your console properly.

    just to check, you have moved the game audio/chat audio slider to the left slightly. having it all the way to chat will cut all other audio.

    Hey everyone, just had this problem, tried everything i could think involving resets, controller power cycles, unplugging then replugging the headset- nothing worked.

    But then i plugged in some different headphones and it solved the problem. After the new headphones were plugged in i went back to the original headset and everything was back to normal!
